Smirnoff Kissed Caramel Apple Martini & The ... - Food Babbles

Post image for Smirnoff Kissed Caramel Apple Martini & The Weekend Whisk ? 11/17/12

As you read this, I?m probably a giant ball of stress this morning. Tomorrow is a big birthday party for both Maddy, who just turned 3 the other day and Molly, who just turned 1 two weeks ago! We had to cancel Molly?s birthday party due to Hurricane Sandy so now we?re having a gigantic celebration for both girls. I had two very specific themes for each party and I had done some preplanning so I already had supplies for both parties. For Molly?s party, I was going to do a rainbow-themed party and Maddy is a huge fan of rainbow sprinkles so I was building a party around that love. So, tomorrow I?ll be combining both themes! You should see my Pinterest board for the occasion.

Maddy as a baby. She just turned 3!

Today I?ll be whipping up a 6 layer (!!!) rainbow cake decorated with rainbow sprinkles, rainbow Rice Krispie treats, jello cups that are rainbow layers, rainbow fruit skewers, strawberries and marshmallows will be dipped in chocolate then dipped in rainbow sprinkles, and so much more! If everything goes as planned, I?ll combine both themes all the way through to the decorations, party hats and goodie bags.

Molly a year ago. Maddy & Molly these days. Growing up SO fast!

Oh did I mention Mike is working all day today? Oh yes, this should be fun. I?ll be trying to accomplish all of this with both little ones underfoot. Thank goodness I?ll have HB home to give me a hand with them otherwise nothing would get accomplished. So wish me luck today! I?m gonna need it. By the end of the day, I?m going to be ready to kick back, relax and have one of these Smirnoff Kissed Caramel Apple Martinis in my hand.

Remember when I was telling you about?Pie Party and that amazing Salted Caramel Pie with Toasted Coconut Crust? Oh yeah, it was quite the shindig. Tons of pie, appetizers, and drinks were a flowin? thanks to one of our generous sponsors,?Smirnoff. After gorging myself on pie, what was even better was I had the opportunity to take one of Smirnoff?s new flavors home with me to play with. In my hand I had a bottle of?Smirnoff Kissed Caramel?and boy oh boy, was I excited!

When I got home I decided to take my Kissed Caramel for a spin and made myself a caramel apple martini. I mixed together Smirnoff Kissed Caramel with apple cider and a little ginger. It was warm, smooth and the perfect autumn cocktail. Garnish with a fresh apple slice which is nice to munch on afterward, if you like to eat your garnish like I do. After making this drink, I can?t wait to experiment more. ?In the meantime, below you?ll see what was going on here this week as always. I hope you all had a fabulous week and are gearing up for some relaxation this weekend.

Enjoy!

Eggnog Cookies from Savory Simple:?I am NOT a fan of eggnog. At all. It?s thick and I can?t really get down with it. But I like it baked into stuff, like these cookies. These cookies are made with eggnog and what?s even better? An eggnog glaze. Oh yeah.

Parmesan Pound Cakes from Jules Food:?Cake 1?is dense but with a light flavor and a hint of lemon, Cake 2?is a vanilla bean version, Cake 3?has ?a light crumb and texture? with cream cheese in the batter and meringue that gets folded in. That?s right, three parmesan pound cakes and I?m completely totally intrigued by them all. I really like pound cake and I can?t say that I?ve ever even had one with parmesan cheese in it. I will make all three of these lovely cakes at some point.

Goat Cheese Pasta with Spinach & Roasted Mushrooms from Two Peas & Their Pod:?Well, it?s no secret around here how obsessed I am with goat cheese. This pasta with veggies and creamy goat cheese folded in is getting made for dinner ASAP. Seriously.
